If you’d notice from my past few entries, I did not remove the song “Dress” by Abingdon Boys School (AKA the TNB / Takanori Nishikawa Band). My mp3 player had this particular song from January 24 up to now. And it really is that good. Like an infinite music loop.
And so far, I like the song as much as I liked it at the start. Well, I never really liked revivals too much. Like there’s a good revival and a bad revival, and even the good ones still sound like the original one. The same case with Eraserheads and “ElectroMagneticJam”, I still think it sounds like Eraserheads.
But when it’s the case with this song, it’s a completely different thing. ABS made the song THEIR OWN, with a different beat, different take, something that completely took my attention when I first heard it, and I immediately analyzed it. Of course I know the song “Dress”, which is a Buck-Tick fame tune. It more prominently became famous back a few years ago when they released the song again but as a Bloody Trinity Mix (used in the anime Trinity Blood). I both have the original and the BTM. But when Takanori Nishikawa sang it, it was like a true, I mean true, revival. It revived the song completely, without frills or cuts, I think it’s the best one of the album where it came from, “Parade ~Respective Tracks of Buck-Tick~”, and it’s a true show of respect for this pioneering band.
The main reason I haven’t blogged, or even just had about five hours of free internet leisure time is because of my projects. Dammit those sadistic professors, but still, it’s not like we don’t deserve some flagellation one way or the other, we indirectly also give them the proverbial sleepless nights just by exam checking and project evaluations.
Anyway, I passed all of my subjects this semester *YAY* and I avoided making my summer a little more hell-bent. And that made the 4 weeks of hell well worth it.
But next time I’ll manage my time and schedule more better. It really sucks for me having eyebags because of overnight project rush bouts and losing weight over running to and fro the library and the copy center and the printing shop and … many more places of a distance. I hope I can recuperate this summer.
