BGM: [ 99 Problems (and a Bitch Ain’t One) ] by Jay-Z & Linkin Park
Yes. My 100th entry at this blog.
I’m still in a ditch with my math subjects. You know, engineering students’ biggest pain in the ass is simply math. Even if I am in a Computer Science subject, math haunts me. And the fact that the Finals examinations are due next week doesn’t help me much either. Calculus and Statistics. Two of my most fondest memories of math in my high school, until now a pain in my ass. I just hope they’ll be beneficial to me in the future.
The Philippine Basketball Association’s (PBA) opening day is simply a “letdown”. I expected something better from their creative department, and it seemed to me they either had a creative block or they have been in a room sniffing hashish by the pounds. The players probably had the fun, but probably not most of the fans who paid good money just to watch the show. I’m lucky that I stayed at home.
The show itself promised glamour, wordlessly, at the start. Then the lights go out, and also the fun.
They had a stupid rendition of Bamboo’s radio-friendly “Noypi” song, with the lyrics just going “hoy hoy hoy” or “hey hey hey” or something. THen the players go in with parodies (or defamations) of famous themes in the past such as Grease, Star Wars, Matrix, Pirates, and the like. The Red Bull intro got a passing score with me because they didn’t have to do those stupid intros and instead got a creative video shoot with the players having an overdose of their own product. Barangay Ginebra, sadly, fell victim, alongside with the other 7 teams, with the popular misconception of having costumes as crowd pleasers. I’m a loyal BG fan. But what the f**k just did they do with those friggin’ statues and just coming out as Russell Crowe ripoffs? If they had their way, or the fans’ way, they shoulda have gone BIG time like the Purefoods’ boat trip. Barangay Ginebra players and their fans deserved better.
I don’t know if this is what they plan as a stepping stone to recover from the brouhahas they had in the past, but for me, they’re still at square one.
Still, J-Pop is my favorite musical pick. I’m still at the near-middle of my self-study of the Japanese language, but the music is still fresh and catchy.
(*add more next time, probably tomorrow at 1:00 PM Manila time*)
