BGM: [Futari no Gomen Ne] – Excel Saga OST
Waw. I really underestimated GMA’s vast resources.
They started showing the 10+ episodes of FMP:Fumoffu series, in good Filipino dubbing. I already watched most of it (all, actually ) and Resti too. I already ranted good about it in my previous months’ blog entries, right.
There. 4 out of 5 rating.
It’s really supposed to be a love comedy, and they nailed it right on the bulls’ eye. Tessa Testarossa has a deep crush for Sagara, while Chidori has affection for him (showing it by how hard she whacks Souske on the head with a giga-paperfan). Love triangle, right?
Note # 1: I think there will be some episodes that will be not shown on TV (60% sure) due to some *um..* censorable issues.
First, we got the “Rugby Players’ Brainwashing at Torture Camp” episode. It’s about Sousuke teaching the girlish, sensitive rugby players how to be menacing, hulking, killing machines by use of goddamn torture, fasting, and most of all, MALIGNANT BRAINWASHING. Souske picked the tips right up from Mao’s “How to Abuse a Marine trainee” handbook.
Second, there will be the “The Goddess Visits Japan: Kurz’s Hot Springs Peeping-Tom Saga” episode where Kurz planned (he coerced Tessa to suggest a hot springs overnight plan) a hot springs overnight to peep into Mao’s, Tessa’s, Chidori’s and her two school friend’s *um* bodies. It turned out to be a total disaster as Sagara already came up with the best plans to overthrow the three (kurz has 2 of Sagara’s male classmates as co-sabouteurs) perverted hard-ons. It will be on the chopping block for there are some censorable parts there, like the bath scene (they covered the delicate parts by hands, quackie floaters, towels, skimpy outfits, soap bubbles, and water) and the big assets. If they show it, expect massive scene deleting and *censors*. Also watch out for the “Gundam SEED” parody there. There is, just watch it, if they show it.
Third, the “Full Monty Virus” episode. Sagara brings a package that is supposed to be armaments, it turned out to be a virus. It isn’t actually deadly (its health benefits include strengthening of muscles, energy boosting, and migraine erasing) but it has a very terrible effect: anybody who wears artificial clothing of any kind (like nylon, polyester and artificial fabrics) will cause their clothing to dissolve into thin air. 98% of the school were infected, and imagine the horror. Disappearing bras, panties, clothes, and other body accessories. Sagara’s punchline at the end: “I think…I won’t live longer now…”
Heh. Sounded like a great synopsis, eh? Some of the recommendable episodes is the “Ghost Tripping At The Hospital” and “Art and Modelling” episodes. There. Just watch it.
Note # 2: Sousuke envisions the PE teacher as a hard-line communist. See the visions? That was a typical Russian Bolshevik suit.
Note # 3: I saw some wrongly translated things out there.
1: Chidori ordered a custard roll, right? In one episode they showed up, Sagara was staring at the bread tent, wanting to buy some bread because his stock of beef noodles and food supplies ran out. Chidori encouraged him to “be noticed”. He shot a gun, then ordered a “sweet roll”.
MISTAKE IN GMA: Sousuke, as they translated, ordered too a custard roll. Wrong.
2: Sousuke was scaring one of the hostagetaker’s henchmen about his lovebirds. He was threatening if somebody sprayed insecticide in the cage.
MISTAKE IN GMA: Souske, as they translated, didn’t say specifically what poison could be used.
3: Sousuke was being screamed in the face by the PE teacher. The teacher said “Wait then. You’ll SEEE!!!” the Sagara retorts “Yes, I am looking at you now”, evident he didn’t understand the PE teacher’s threat. He translated it as “You see?” for the teacher used “ka” as a softener of the sentence (I previously watched the original Japanese version with fan subs).
MISTAKE IN GMA: Souske replied “yes”.
Ok, enough of it.
