BlogDrive blog posts.
BGM: [Eternity] by Robbie Williams
My blog account is already a year old. Sheesh. My habit is now a year old, it seems. An addiction that is a sickeningly sweet vice.
But it’s worthwhile.
My Top 25 Songs [for this meantime]:
25: [Canto Alla Vista] by Josh Groban feat. The Corrs
Well, Josh has a good tenor voice that fits in Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and probably Japanese. Adding the Corrs, well, you got a melody that will soothe your aching soul in times of trials.
24: [Mr. Writer] by Stereophonics
I just once watched the video on MTV and it caught my eye. The lyrics caught me off-guard.
Are you so lonely
You don’t even know me
But you’d like to stone me
Mr Writer
Why don’t you tell it like it is
Why don’t you tell it like it really is
23: [Anna Ni Issho Datta No Ni] by See-Saw
The song’s good. Enough. But if you already are itching to watch Gundam SEED on ABS-CBN< be sure to hang around for the ending theme in Episode 1 to 16.
22: [Breaking The Habit] by Linkin Park
Woot. THis one is something. I almost drank 3 cups of espresso just to await its first simultaneous Asian release on MTV. So, I am one of the hundreds who FIRST watched the video. For that I liked the song before it was on MTV. Definitely liked Crawling.
21: [Sayonara Solitia] by Chiba Saeko
This one is one of the shortest but most touching anime bgs I ever encountered. It really fits in to a T. Perfect. Unless you never enjoy any anime, no cable TV, no translator, well, guess what, you’ll need all. You can hear the full anime version at Episode 26: CHRNO .
20: [Iris] by Goo Goo Dolls
At lease Rzenik found his band’s niche – singing mellow inspirational love rock songs that’s definitely unique and satisfyingly blooming.
19: [If Tomorrow Never Comes] by Ronan Keating
Nah. I’m not Boyzone, but it’s OK for Mr. Keating. The song is actually one of those tragic songs that could be inserted in your sleeping habit for you to sleep if you have insomnia. Also if you just want a BG, you can have this.
18: [No Farther] by Wolfgang
Well, this is the FIRST Filipino band to have their song included in a major internationally-released film. Basti Artadi nailed it this time around.
17: [Exodus] by Maksim
This isn’t exactly a song. It’s a piano piece, but still, definitely worth an ear or two.
16. [Sick Cycle Carousel] by Lifehouse
The video totally rocks, and the song is definitely a keeper.
15. [Coffee and TV] by Blur
This one really I doubt anybody will find catchy and turning-on. Bluesy, mellow and jolly, Blur makes their name sound like a metaphor, or an oxymoron.
So give me Coffee and TV
History
I’ve seen so much
I’m goin blind
And i’m braindead virtually
Sociability
It’s hard enough for me
Take me away from this big bad world
And agree to marry me
So we can start all over again
14. [Natutulog Ba Ang Diyos] by Gary Valenciano
I first heard this song while on our 3rd Year field trip to Bluroze farms in Lipa. It really is something, a song for me who is, by that time, considering if I should continue on as a sacristan or altar boy. After that, I went on for 21 months in the church.
13. [Bulakbol] by The Mongols
Even if Ely Buendia == || != Jesus “DZ” Ventura, his composing really digs in. From the Mongols’ debut album, Buddha’s Pest, their carrier single “Bulakbol” was a simple one that just enlargened because of the vocalist’s glorious background.
12. [Mistake Number 3] by TrueFaith
An old revival, but still fresh and tingling.
11. [Yellow] by Coldplay
Chris Martin once said that they will always be the band who wrote that god-damned song “Yellow”. Well, they’ll always be. And always wil be one of my songs.
10. [With A Smile] by EraserHeads
Yeah, no doubt about it. I’m an Eraserheads fan, way back in 1998 before they released Natin 99. I always liked Ely Buendia’s approach to songwriting (nowadays many a hopeful UP or other university-bred bands try to duplicate his astounding success) that is both unique and satisfyingly Filipino. My first CD of E-Heads is a damn pirated one (my uncle bought me that one) bought for 15 pesos back in Grade 6. 5 years later I bought the actual Eraserheads Anthology for P280.
9. [Stuck In A Moment You Can’t Get Out Of] by U2
Too long for a song title, ain’t it? But U2 still has youth beneath their age. Bono shoulda have made this their carrier single, but Beautiful Day got the MTV Moon Man.
8. [She’s The One] by Robbie Williams
I was her she was me
We were one we were free
And if there’s somebody calling me on
She’s the one
If there’s somebody calling me on
She’s the one
7. [For You] by The Calling
Simply overwhelming. After My Immortal, here is the second explosive single from Daredevil and Alex Band.
6. [Pts.Of.Athrty] by Linkin Park
Very excellent work of remanipulation and remixing.
5. [214] by Rivermaya
Still, Bamboo and Rico Blanco shows their vocal and lyrical mastery with this song. The title may be deceptive, but the song is definitely a must-have on your MP3 collection.
4. [Julie Tearjerky] by Eraserheads
Julie Tearjerky on the phone
She says that I can’t be at home….
3. [Hard To Believe] by Eraserheads
One of Ely Buendia’s English songs. No doubt about it, even in English, the Eraserheads tune is still a good one.
2. [Ang Huling El Bimbo] by Eraserheads
There’s no E-heads fan who doesn’t know or head this song. Considered as one of Ely Buendia’s greatest songs, this tragic tale of a lost love is haunting and musically deceptive. This is the main reason why their second album “Cutterpillow” sold like very hot hotcakes.
1. [Tuwing Umuulan At Kapiling Ka] by Eraserheads
Thiis one is the ONLY E-heads song I liked that is isn’t even Ely Buendia’s lyrics. Ryan Cayabyab, the great musicman, made this song. Worthy of singing along, and playing on your radio while with your loved one on the rainy seasons.
